2011 Annual Report

I am pleased to share the Family Service & Children’s Aid Annual Report to the Community for 2011. This report illustrates FSCA’s achievements in serving the Jackson area and surrounding communities.

2011 was a challenging year. Even with many challenges, we continue to focus on enriching the quality of our services to support FSCA’s mission of strengthening the emotional health of children, adults and families. Through foster care and adoption programs, counseling and substance abuse treatment, adult guardianship, and prevention education and advocacy, we address critical issues in our community. Our agency has a significant impact on the quality of life in Jackson and surrounding communities. Moving us forward is the agency’s vision of a healthy community built on strong families.

Family Service & Children’s Aid is made up of people who truly care—from our dedicated local board of directors to our professional staff and our volunteers and supporters. We care about what we do, we care about the people we serve, and we care about the community in which we live.

Thank you for all you do to help FSCA make a difference for so many. Sincerely,

Help Us Celebrate Breakout’s 20 Years of Service

The Breakout Drug Education Program began 20 years ago in Jackson with a group of concerned volunteers and a goal: reduce and eliminate escalating adolescent alcohol and drug use.

Over the years since then, 65,000 middle and high school students in six counties in lower Michigan have participated in the Breakout Program, thanks in large part to the generosity and commitment of the community.

Among its many unique qualities, Breakout has evolved and adapted to meet the ever-changing needs of the community. From Breakout’s beginnings in 1991 with school assemblies and two days of classroom programming, through evaluation and program curriculum enhancement, the Breakout Drug Education Program has grown to an eight day model showing significant and proven impact on adolescent alcohol and substance use and abuse.

It is rare for a grass roots program like Breakout to exist more than 10 years. In recognition of the significance of 20 years of service, we invite you to celebrate this amazing achievement with us.

If you will be able to join us, or would like to be a sponsor, please register online.
